Maralah, of the Water Spirit, is a vivacious, strong-willed, and stubborn young woman. Her tender age of twenty has not hindered her aspirations to become an explorer and mapmaker, and the future Shaman of her tribe. However due to the recent encroachment of the Tribe of the Wyvern on allies and their own territory, she has had to become a scout and defender. Her spiritual connection to her (animal) ‘family’ and training from Aalma has also put her in a lofty place among her tribe, and primed her to become a Shaman in her elder years, so long as she proves herself and deepens her connection.
Physically, she is a strong young woman that prefers a strong spear, which she uses when hunting or fishing - or in defense of herself. Her tan body is well toned from frequent swimming, yet she also shows the same thick, curviness that her people are known for. Her dark brown hair is long and matted into thick dreadlocks, and usually only drawn back when she needs to hunt.
Maralah shows little fear on the ocean or in the air, but on land she tends to be a bit nervous – she has seen the Tribe of the Wyvern with their large, aggressive wyverns and their massive carnivore pets, and feels vulnerable to their attacks when on foot. The smell of gunpowder makes her sick, and believes it is a scent that is attached to the Tribe of the Wyvern as a curse for their cruel ways rather than something they use for their weaponry. She has little interest in men, and in fact feels quite comfortable around them as more companions than potential mating partners. The only thing that draws her attention is fur, as the tribe does not often keep furry mammals as pets. Men who are hairy are in that same vein, and she can’t resist trying to touch those with excessive body or facial hair.
She enjoys being jocular and playful with friends, but also values time alone as a time to meditate. Those foreign or unknown to her are treated with mild hostility, especially with the Wyvern tribe becoming more prevalent, but she is quick to make friends with those she feels proves themselves. Of all the things she hates most in the world, it’s insects. Small ones aren’t bad – it’s the big ones that drive her to irrational fear.
